We recently supported digital mental health initiative ‘Dead End’ at Worcester Arts Workshop last week, teaming up with Outspoken – a home grown theatre company – and their newly devised, interactive piece: Deadend.
The play was aimed at 13 – 20 year olds and covered young mental health issues and the pressures and anxiety that are facing young people today. Devised and directed by Hannah Phillips, Worcester Arts Worksop’s Transformation Director, the production comprised multiple performance techniques, including dance and song, along with projection and encouragement of the audience to use their phones during the show to access extra content.
Feedback from the young people who viewed Deadend via the live stream and live performance included: “Fantastic and powerful message”, “a heart string puller” and:
Phenomenal ! Moving… emotive …. one of the beSt things I’ve seen in a very long time. Very moving and the perfect pitch of dance, spoken word, film and song. In response to your question I would 100% go to see another performance.
The live streaming of Dead End enabled us to have international impact, over 500 young people watched the performance from their schools across the UK and beyond. The Streamer team were outstanding. They are professional and excellent at what they do. I was amazed by the film quality. I would highly recommend this team and will now live stream all performance work we make.
